Cala Saona Beach
Tucked away in between the cliffside of the west coast of the island is this little stretch of white sandy beach and crystal clear water. Going towards Cap de Barbaria you will quickly find the indications to this beach, with easy access from the main road and ample parking close-by. Make sure you come early during high season as being such a small beach it does get quite crowded, especially on windy days. On the windy days Cala Saona is usually one of the few beaches that are out of the wind and well protected from the surrounding cliffs. Yachts and boats usually stay here for the night and also on windy days flock to this area of the island in search for cover and a quiet place to stay the night.
There are a few restaurants and a chiringuito (beach bar) just off the beach, as well as a large hotel with the same name as the beach. If you arrive to Cala Saona by yacht you are covered with the dingy service they have for people coming to land to eat at one of the restaurants. This beach is small yet has everything you might want to stay here for the day without having to leave.
It is highly recommended to come and enjoy one of the sunsets as during the summer season the sun sets right in front of the beach. To get a better view you could get up on one of the nearby cliffs. The sunset views are truly stunning with views of Es Vedra as well as the seamingly endless sea. Cala Saona is a beach you cannot miss when visiting Formentera on your holidays.
